History:

Catalyst formed the day after Thanksgiving, in the fall of 99. Just Ryan, Kevin and myself (Tony.)
Prior to that, we all spent some time in Capharnaum. First Ryan and myself, We played out alot
and with some awesome bands. Then shortly after releasing our first album, "Reality Only Fatasized" in 97, we canned
Ryan. For whom? Kevin.

We did Capharnaum for a few more years. We were ready to put out another album, but
in the fall of 98 founding member Jason Suecof, decided to pack up and head south to Florida. Kevin joined him not shortly after to continue doing Capharnaum. During the following months Kevin and Jason wrote furiously, for what would be the next Capharnaum album.

Sometime later, due to circumstances beyond his control, Kevin had to move back to CT. So he packed up his riffs and
came home. Upon his return Kevin and I decided to reform as a new band.In search for other members,
we ran across Ryan, and ironically enough became our second guitarist.
That night, we wrote our first song, Awakening.

Now we had to name this new monster. So, after lots of research ,names in hats, goat worship,
and with the help of others, we came up with Catalyst. Few months went by, searching for a bassist and drummer. tried some out, but nothing solid. Until, Adam contacted us about the vacant bass position in early 2000. Adam had the right mind set and joined shortly there after. Few months more of writing and we came across Steve. Just from walking into Steve's practice space, we knew we found the right guy. (you should see Steve's almost decadent collection of old metal shirts. Extreme Aggression!)

And thus Catalyst was complete.

Recorded a three song demo in late 2000 (I did vocals in a dorm room!) We did a new 2 song demo third quarter of 2001. At that point we started playing out. with the likes of: Exhumed, Macabre, Enslaved, Radiation 4, Phobia, Today is the Day, Psyopus, Behold the Arctopus, All That Remains, Mortician, Cephalic Carnage, December, and countless local shows. In 2003 we recorded a full length, six track album, to shop. Due to expenses, we could only complete the drums, and thus spent the next year to record guitars, bass and vocals. When we were done, we headed on down to Florida to mix our demo with none other than Jason Suecof, ex-band mate, creator of Capharnaum, and owner of Audiohammer studios. Did only three songs due to time, but they sound fucking great, as we knew they would. And well now, its off to work this demo to everyone and anyone and play out as much as fucking possible.

The bottom line; What we're all about: This band is a mix of all our favorites. Imagine Cryptopsy in a fist fight with Carcass, Death, and Gorguts, with various Swedish and Norwegian bands running interference. Our sound is somewhere in there. Genre? Technical Melodic Progressive Death Metal. Say that shit three times fast. But specifically thats right where we are. We wanted to be a mesh of our favorite styles until ultimately we progress into our own, without forgetting where we have come from, and compromising our vision. And that is all.
